  Exotic dancers have been fighting for their rights for a very long time; the issues surrounding anything from sexual assault, to trafficking and other sexual violations. After the infamous DejaVu lawsuit the labor movement finally reached this industry. This battle in particular took on a life of its own & appeared to be the most successful fight with relatively favorable results; until it wasn't. What's even more surprising is that after decades of fighting for rights, the adult entertainment industry finally got recognition on a federal level and almost nobody noticed. BASIC PSYCHOLOGY   I have decided to share some of my findings while studying the general club environment from a psychological standpoint. First, some statistics that you'll be able to validate on the NAMI website. BPD, borderline personality disorder (aka emotional disregulation disorder) is found in 1.6% of Americans, which seems benign, but that's roughly 50 million people with BPD alone; that does not include whatever mental illness it accompanies as it is rarely a standalone disorder. At the very least, PTSD comes along with the disorder as it stems from early childhood sexual and/or physical abuse, emotional neglect and any other severe childhood trauma. Meanwhile 4% of Americans are sociopaths, so 1 in 25 Americans is considered to be a sociopath. Sociopathy, unlike psychopathy, can be nearly impossible to detect and shares many of the same personality traits as someone with BPD. It's honest work and if you are as smart as I know you are, you should start investing in your future; if you've not done so already. For starters, download and print IRS forms 4070 and 4070A, which are specifically for the purpose of tracking all tipped income; form 4070 is the form the IRS now requires you turn into the owner of whatever establishment you work at, for tax reasons. This may mean you have to start filing taxes but on the plus side, column D on all IRS issued tip ledgers are for you to write full names of everyone you tip out and the amount. This will allow the IRS to cross-reference those names and make sure everyone you paid out claimed every dollar you paid them.   The whole "sex workers deserve rights" movement hasn't ended, it just isn't in the headlines anymore. In states like Washington, Oregon and California they've either continued to stand together or in the case of CA entertainers, moved to Austin, TX and other large cities in TX.   Since age 22 have been in the adult industry in some form or another.   The snake who ate his own tail is an obvious euphemism or metaphor for "vicious cycle". Many career strippers are in denial or not ready to admit that they're caught in a nasty cycle. I, myself, have experienced the aforementioned cycle; but hindsight is 20/20 and I can see most of my sisters are still in it. Even girls like me who've danced for the better part of the last decade don't always see it. This cycle is hard to break and may be slightly confusing unless you think like I do. Quit dancing. The real story came from a brave black woman {name omitted for now}, well call her "C", and she belongs to the most marginalized of even LGBTQ sex workers.
